WEAR ART THOU
The Wear Art Thou logo, created for an upscale women's boutique in Austin, Texas, was conceived as a celebration of creativity, personal expression, and the connection between art and nature. The boutique represents designers, artists, and craftspeople who explore wearable art as a form of storytelling, transforming everyday materials into imaginative works that blur the boundaries between fashion, sculpture, and performance.
To support the idea, I developed a visual identity that reflected both the handcrafted nature of the wearable artwork and the organic process of creative growth. The logo combines stylized botanical forms with abstract human figures, symbolizing a community of artists connected through creativity, collaboration, and self-expression. The flowing lines and upward movement suggest growth, transformation, and the evolution of ideas from concept to finished work.
A vibrant green palette was selected to evoke themes of renewal, imagination, and artistic energy, while the contrasting "black" bird introduces an element of curiosity and narrative. Positioned at the edge of the composition, the bird serves as both observer and guide, encouraging exploration and discovery. The typography balances the illustration's organic qualities with a more refined, traditional aesthetic, creating a visual system that feels both whimsical and sophisticated.
The resulting identity provided a memorable and flexible brand presence for event promotions, printed materials, signage, and community outreach efforts, while reinforcing the event's mission to celebrate creativity in all its forms.
While I wasn’t consulted on the final signage—and likely would have recommended a few different approaches—it’s still rewarding to see the design out in the wild and the playful interaction between the bird icon and the circular “O” form. The deep blue and lime green palette feels vibrant in natural light and creates a memorable visual statement from the curb. The business remained successful for more than a decade, and I’m proud that the logo’s playful character resonated so strongly with the store’s clientele.
HOUSTON COMMUNITY CATALYST
Houston Public Media launched Community Catalyst, a new initiative designed to strengthen nonprofit organizations throughout the Houston region by helping them tell more compelling stories and raise awareness of their missions. Through professionally produced video content, promotional support, and strategic storytelling, the program provides nonprofit organizations with valuable marketing assets to engage donors, volunteers, stakeholders, and the broader community.
To support the initiative's launch, I developed the Community Catalyst brand identity and accompanying visual standards. The logo was designed to represent the collaborative nature of the program, bringing together nonprofit organizations, community members, and Houston Public Media around a shared goal of creating positive social impact. The interlocking forms symbolize partnership, connection, and collective action, while the circular composition conveys momentum, growth, and ongoing community engagement.
The visual identity uses a vibrant blue-and-gold color palette to convey optimism, trust, and accessibility. Flexible horizontal and stacked logo configurations were created to support consistent implementation across digital platforms, broadcast promotions, social media, presentations, marketing collateral, and video assets. The resulting brand system provided a recognizable and scalable identity for a program dedicated to amplifying nonprofit voices and strengthening the communities they serve.
